Question Sub Options Driving me Crazy

i have a 2000 bmw 3 series, and i need to get a sub thats of good quality but can also be loud.

i have already invested lost of money into good comps, for the interior, good HU and nice amps...i will use the pdx.1000 to power the sub,

these are the contenders....i only want one sub to conserve space and i will use a ported box.

kicker l7.
fosgate t2
polk sr124
dont wants to spend as much for a jl w7, but ill consider the w6
and ive been reccomeneded the alpine x series.

i purchased 2 10' fosgate p3, but ive decided to sell them before even heariing them..lol

someone give me the input should i get only 1 sub, 2 sub, am i making the right decision in selling the p3? and which single sub of the above options do you think is best suited for a BMW 3 series.

Keep in mind BMW have crazy insulation so you need alot of power to hear it inside the car.

I only have listened to a few of the mentioned.

w6 - sounded really good and got decently loud but didn't blow my mind.

type X - was in an SQ car IB and sounded phenomenal, but i didn't get to hear them as loud as they could have been.

L7 - in he application I heard them in they were loud as fu*k but didnt excite me SQ wise.

Polk - never heard em

out of those, based on price and what I've heard of them I vote for the TypeX

I pick Polk. Go for 15" if possible. It will get loud. If 15" is not available - Alpine X is great as well.

i wont do 15, i can only fit a 12' ported. some ppl. have told me that the alpine x is a sub i wont like, its a pure SQ sub. Like i said im looking for the best sub for my car. bmw 3 series...not all subs are gonna sound good in it.

im concerned about kicker l7 quality, but i know for spl that should suffice. the other one im leaning to is the w6?

what do you think of the 2 p3 in comparison to a single 12 inch of these above options?

I would rather have one sub. And whoever told you Alpine X is pure SQ is way wrong. No strict SQ audiophile runs Alpine subs. True SQ subs are not loud. X pounds hard, and sounds clean.

I will agree, the X is very clean and has some decent thump. It would make a nice match with the amp that you have. I would not however give it more than its rated power at least not for long. I'm not familiar with your trunk but would there be anywhere to face a port into the cabin?

I vote Type X but i'm partial to them, i have one 10" in a ported enclosure in my 03 stang, sounds really good and tight but hits really hard, i'm only using a RF P3001 so not as much power as the PDX 1000.

I know of at least one IASCA competitor who won a world championship in SQ using typeX (his car rattles a little though)....lol

MTT, what do you know about subs? you don't even run one.

the keyboard commandos are more informed than you are. remember this = type x is not sq. period.

that's right, true sq audiophile runs funky pups and uses magic dust to enhance the transient response along with pure silver speaker wires that the virgin has pissed on for an increased sq.
