Which Subs To Buy?? Need Help
If you want to run 2 subs, I'd first make sure they're rated for around 400-500rms. Then if they are only a single voice coil then you need two 8 ohm subs. If they are a dual voice coil model, you want to buy two dual 4 ohm subs. This way when you wire them together the amp will see them as a 4 ohm load and give you the power you want.
Do you have any subs in mind that you like? I can tell you if they would wire properly. Almost any brand sub has a way to get to 4 ohms using two subs.
So what brands would you like to have? What is your price range? The vendors here will have all kinds of subs to meet your needs.

What vehicle? What type of music? Are they in a sealed or ported enclosure? If they are the dual 4's that great. If they are the dual 2 ohm subs you might be alright, see if he will let you try them. If the amp gets hot quickly and possibly goes into protection you know it's not 2 ohm stable.
Is your buddy selling his box with the subs? If so, is it ported or sealed. Is there a big hole in his box?
Well then, your all set. Find out if they are dual 2 or 4 ohm speakers. I'd go with a ported box for those subs in that vehicle. Find out which version they are and we'll show you how to wire them together.
For $250, I'm not sure if anyone can beat that deal for 2 Type R's.
And yes, they SHOULD GET pretty loud.
