Suggestion..What to replace my IDQ with?

I sold my IDQ 12" sub.

I thought of going with a few (three or four) 8" subs instead in the hatch of the Camaro.

Any thoughts on the Polk MM840 or JBL GTO804's? They both seem decent enough and have a fair bit of Xmax.

Will be running the subs sealed and need to keep the box faiy small...trunk isn't that big

If not any other suggestions?

Thanks

Tang Bang W8-740P Tang Band W8-740P 8" Subwoofer | Parts-Express.com (Solen also have them)

12mm of xmax and a FS of 28Hz, i know you mentionned sealed but 4 of these in 2cuft tuned at 28Hz should give you some solid low

A sealed 8" will roll off at 60-70hz, port them or use 2 sealed 12's in 2cf3.

Tangbangs are sweeeeet.

The Polk's have more xmax and should move more air and their Fs number is 35hz.

How would the TB do against the Polk in terms of SQ?

Arc Audio has 8's that look very well build. 15mm (one way linear) in a .35cuft box.
Hybrid is apparently coming out with a small sub sometime in the soon future as well

Try those.

Correct me if I'm wrong but x-max is a useless comparison without motor force & cone weight etc, not that they'd be drastically different. 4 8's seem like they'd be equal to one 12" on the same power. What dimensions are you working with?

The impact would be greater on four 8s vs one good 12. Box position testing and construction of the box is just as important.

Comparing at cone space, four 8's would be equal to 1.75 twelves (or 2.5 ten inch). I'm not up on other specs but I though more xmax (cone travel) would be better.

In the back of my 89 Camaro, space is tight as it's a well hatch rather than a trunk or true hatch back. Most of the back space is taken up by the fuel tank which sits right behind the rear seats. Also, I'm looking to add an air ride suspension in a few years so I also need room for a 3 gal. tank in the well also.

The most I can spare is 2 cu.ft. of space for some subs.

Hatch area...not done with the Dynamat yet (you get the idea..it's a wierd shape)
