Unhappy Suggestions for 3 amp setup please

I've had a 2 amp system in my car for many years now but now its time to upgrade. I do have some limited knowledge on installs but have a few questions on how to properly wire things.

I have included a basic diagram of what I hope to accomplish and would really appreciate any ideas, suggestions or even constructive critism on this project!

Here are a few things I am unclear on...

1. Is this the cleanest way to run power to sub amp# 1 and sub amp# 2 ?
2. Are the gauges of power and ground wires sufficient?
3. How large alternator? I have no air conditioning or other large power draws.
4. What size of fuse (near the battery) should I use? Maybe 2 fuses better?

Thanks again and I am open to anything that may help. I have already have everything in the picture except the Yellowtop and still only have a basic AC Delco alternator. It's mostly the wiring gauges setup I am unclear on.

1) your 4 guage should be 1/0
2) your 8 should be 4
3) you should have a second distro block for the neg just like the pos, so that all three amps goto that one distro for neg also
4) your alt should be a bit stronger 150 amp min. but id go 200
5) id do the math again(600 +600 + (60x4=240) =1440 rms
6) id have a 300 watt fuse to protect the wire and then fuse each amp but that is me
7) id get ms visio and make your drawings kick *** seeing as how you took your time to make this one. looks good. good to see guys laying out thier designs and really thinking abou it before they touch a tool.

Hey thanks Team Shadow. and yes... Yikes on that crappy addition! The ideas you gave are great but I just want to clarify num 3). I never thought to link all 3 amps ground wires with a distro block like the power. Where is the best place to ground the 0 gauge afterwards in a vehicle?

When not using the internal amp in the HU, upgrading the power, wires to 8 AWG really isn't an advantage... even 12 AWG would be more than enough...

Thanks for all the replies. A few more questions...

1. Is it best to use 1/0 gauge wire for the "big 3" on both grounds & the power between the alternator ---> battery?

2. On my diagram, the headunit has a left & right sub outputs. Do I just connect these one to each mono amp? Is the diagram correct?

3. Are there other good batteries comparable to Optima Yellow tops? If so, what are they? Who sells them?

1. As far as the Big 3, I would use whatever you have left over from your amp install, you should have exrta 1/0 from that to use.

2. that's fine, or you could save some money on RCA's and get a Y splitter, to go out to the 2 amps.

3. I personally have a yellowtop, but there are other, and from what I hear, just as good, and better options, I'm just not the right person to comment 100% on batteries, I'm sure others will chime n with that info for you.

regards, Mark

i'm getting at if your amp has a run of - to the battery and your deck does not it's a bad thing

in my suv i did new rca's, re ran wire, lost more hair when i ripped it out
you would like to see the amp and the deck have the same - # on a meter
