I just set up a system for my buddy, I bought all used stuff and pulled it off for 500 bucks. 2 12" premeir champion series subs, rockford 1000W amp and 2 6x9's. Sounds great for a budget system!

Oh ok so the 2 front chans will power the 4 speakers ( 2 in front doors, 2 in rear doors), and then the other 2 chans --> subwoofer.

And yea a deck is needed for sure.

If you're going with the 4 channel amp setup like previously mentioned, which by the way would be a good route to go with if you're on a budget.

It would be setup like so: the two front channels would be used for the front speakers and then the other 2 channels on the amp would be bridged to use for a subwoofer.

Then for the rear speakers in your car you can power them off of your head unit.

Well he already had a deck and subs so I just ran a bigger power cable to the amp and a bigger cap and picked up 2 pioneer 6x9's, nothing really special. You can do it for cheap, theres lots of deals out there you just have to wait and look for the right ones.
