System in winter?

I was just wondering if it's good or bad to keep your amps and subs in the car during the cold weather seasons.

no problem...think about the oem equipment, it's in there all through the year...why not the aftermaket? Just use common sense when it's really cold...give the equipment time to normalize or warm up before you crank it up. I've had my systems go through many winters with no problems at all.

if you have a foam surround DON'T!!!!!!!!! Crank on it at all even if your car is warm... I told a buddy that last winter and he said that he never turned it up until his car was warm..... And now he is waiting for a cone kit he cracked his surround.... I have rubber surrounds and never had a problem

Wow, I never knew that, but then I don't have foam surrounds either.

This is more exception than rule, brand, age, and care are factors as well. I would take all advice posts as one persons opinion though (I mean if your the guy who has a surround go on him during winter... is it dumb luck or bad advice?)
UV is the biggest danger to subs, leaving them in the sun affects their mechanical properties
moisture can be an issue as well, it can cause rust and odd electrical behavior (noises coming and going)
so yeah, warm up the system sounds like a good plan before wanging on it

I agree with you Jalat but if the system is set up properly then Half volume would be to much. I would recommend more like 15 or 20% volume to warm up all the components of the system.

I run my system all year. and have been for over 10 years. no problems to report so far.

I take mine out every winter... I have rubber surrounds and I usually wait until its below freezing to take them out... never had a problem as long as you let them warm up like ppl said... The thing is .... snowboards dont fit with it in... so no matter they are coming out.
