..and I don't know what it is. It seems to happen every time I hit a bass note..well obviously. Whats the best way to pin this down..take the back end of the car apart one piece at a time?

I hope its not my sub..like..somethings wrong with the sub itself. How would I know if my sub..or 6X9's (because its comming from that area, the space towards the back of the trunk)?

Sound deadener is in your future. Listen to the sub itself for rattling, that is a sign of a sub that has had it's day in the sun. If the box is not mounted down, make sure that it gets mounted down.

 

stop the car
get back there
get your head back there
use your hand run it (say next to the 6x9 ,if it stops you need matting there )
if you get back there and hear it form your subs (tell us what you find )
see if it is your plate on the back of the car or a wing

 

Well tomorrow if its a little warmer outside ill try to pinpoint the problem..I forgot about the license plate. I think im going to take the carpet off the back, where the 6x9's are and see if somethings loose there. The 6x9's are only mounted in a plastic thingy which goes right into the trunk.

Also, what would a bad ground cause? With my ground for my monoblock, I sanded down a spot on the metal and bolted the ground to it. If I didnt sand it down enuff (which im 98% sure I did, its right to the bare metal), what would that cause?

 

get your two amps ground to the same place
a bad wire Ground
the 2% that you are not sure can give you a bad Ground
a bad Ground to the deck
it is hard because you are saying a buzz (so i'm looking at Ground 1st )and not saying rattely
what are you satting up for spl or SQ ?
if SQ remove the 6x9 and mat over the holes and your mid bass will go up
if spl the 6x9 are ok if there in good

 

Problem fixed..boy is my face red.

I also found the rattling..its my left speaker vibrating against the plastic housing its in, I put a little piece of cardboard in there to stop it until I can afford some sound deadener.

Just a random question: should the wire inside the box from the sub to the terminals be the same as the wire on the outside of the box going from the terminals to the amp?

 

Speaker wire inside the box can be the same as outside. or not. as long as its large enough.

Good work on finding the rattle. Sound deadener makes a big difference. I used Dynamat extreme, just because it was on sale, but anything is better than nothing. Now i've got a rattle in the door, happened before, and i thought i fixed it. The Lock wire/rod popped out of its little plastic slider/holder. Now I have to take the whole dam door panel off again. But this time i'll use cable ties so it won't ever happen again.

 

I got here to late. I was going to say was let the inlaw out of the trunk, the anoying noise may stop.
