Well guys.... Im wondering if you all believe that the internet is just heresay

Now what will I need to do to tell you that the w7 smacks up the mtx? take pics of both of them side by side? make a video? How would that prove to you guys that one sounds better than the other?

To answer Mr. DWVW question, yes ive heard the MTX and did a side by side comparison, yes ive owned every w7 size and pretty much most other super subs out right now wit the exception of the eD A series and the Diamond TDX.

Now.... if you should need to question my credibillity do you want to take a trip over here to ontario and let me show you my little collection? or should i just pretend like ive owned and heard this stuff?

Not everyone on the net BS... Ive been around here long enough to think you guys would have had better perceptions of my integrity...

after all is said and done... W7 > MTX 9500 any other questions? or should i expect a lengthy rebuttle?

Here we go.... **Mike pulls out the popcorn and takes a seat**

DWVW: I take it you never seen Kriston's gear in person. He doesnt BS when it comes to equipment he has owned, so I trust his judgement and opinion.

Whenever I go over to his place and check his new toys I aways make sure to bring a towel along, since I always jizz my pants.

No not defensive... But I dont talk about things i have not heard or owned.... I know what you mean by net heresay.. and lil kid can say something...

In terms of output.. they both are extremely loud.. a single driver is more than enough for most listeners.. I did not meter them, nor that i cared for that too much... so on a meter the mtx may produce better results... i do not know...

But what i do know response on the w7 is tighter and it also plays higher than the mtx... Low end output the w7 simply owns the MTX and pretty much any other sub ive heard... Under 60-70 hz.. it had an alot less steeper roll off under those frequencies compared to the 9500... if the mtx was a better sub i would have owned it already....

lol.. Mike your a joker.... I look forward to seeing the final install....

one last thing... the w7 has far less compression compared to the mtx as well.. like i said the mtx is more along the Lines of an IDMAX. after 1000-1100 watts compression sets in quickly... where as the w7's (12's and 13's) take it with grace..

9.0 on a 13 was my daily driver.... doing the better part of 2800 watts.... never had an issue...

so far i have nothing but praise for the w7... and the w6 for that matter... Ive also owned and installed a w6v2 and it was a very nice driver...

My Test of the 2 drivers showed me a couple things. At very high output the W7 changed sound and had much mechanical noise. Where the 9500 stayed tight and accurate. I dont want to comment of the Low bass extension as my test was done with each companies of the shelf box they sell the driver with. Output wasnt close as the 9500 smoked it.

But the biggest thing that 2 other people said was Dollar for Dollar you would be crazy to by the W7 over the 9500

Just some observations from another point of view.

</font>
The JL HO box is not the greatest box... tuned high and does not really show its true potential.. The boxes JL reccomends is essentially a tradeoff between space and output... The boxes they reccomend for the w7's are somewhat on the small side.. they were designed to peak at 45-50 hz... has a big peak at those frequenices.. as with the HO box.

With that being said... the w7 has the least distortion found in pretty much any driver... Asides from the velo servo (which the servo essentially rolls back power to reduce distortion)

As for the mechanical Strength.. The w7 has greater mechanical strength... propietary parts allowed for increased xmax without stress on spider..etc... was this demo in a car or a sound room? sound rooms really do not offer great auditions....

Like i said once i find a better driver, i will have it... So far i havent.. the mtx is good.. but comparable to an idmax. which can be had for less than a 9500...

If you want to have any chance of getting your woofer fixed or replaced you might want to retract some of your comments................

I was enjoying this thread untill...

Anyway, battyrida I can relate to your situation. Sometimes it's hard to believe that a person can have first hand experience with so much product. I think that there are a few people on this board with this unique experience willing to share with others. Cool!

To the shop guys, it's great that you promote listening over your personal oppinion. But, I think that many people here (including myself) enjoy hearing of your oppinion. Not everyone gets to play with as much product as the shop guys...

Anyone wanting to "meter" a sub will be very disapointed with most RTA curves. If the "metering" was meant as an SPL measurement, that's different. But, RTA curves of a good sounding sub will not show a number of really important things.

1.) Transient response, how fast the sub responds to dynamics.

2.) Harmonic distortion, this is well below the input signal, but helps your ears "locate" the sub(s).

3.) Tonal accuracy, how well can you define bass notes.(if a bass player is doing a semi-tone shift on a note, can you hear it?)

For those just wanting loud bass, the above won't really apply. In my personal system, I strive to make the subs audibly invisable. This is one more area where in-car response will be the determining factor of weather or not a sub sounds good.

I have NO experience with the subs in question, so of course I'm commenting on the commenting.
