tipping installers
Some guy handed me a roach one time while shaking my hand. I though it was a rolled up bill at first... Threw it behind a bush @ Toys R Us, then told one of the home audio salesmen about it. Ten minutes later he was circling the bush looking for it, lol... Bloody salesmen...
Not specifically relating to tipping installers, but I've noticed that in general, those that have worked on the other side of the fence (bar tending, hair dressing/cutting, restaurants, etc) are usually the ones that know and will tip well EVERYWHERE they go. And they are usually the ones that are barely scrapping by day to day as well. Rich bastards usually have no clue........... generally speaking.
Back to installers, they should be tipped, IF they do a good job. If they are boo-boo the clown, fergit-about-it. They should pay you for the previledge of hacking up your car

We often get tips from customers, usually in the form of wobbly pop, the other day we just finished a 911 at the end of the day as the customer was paying in ca$h , and one of the installers asked if there are any cold beers in the fridge, the answer came back "only 1 left". So the customer leafed out a C note, and said "that's for your beer fund, forget about the extra change ($35)", so we got a buck thirty five for a deck, amp and comps, he's due back for the subs soon.
I also just got a C note tip for hooking up a guy's home theatre reciever, that was besides charging him for the labour(3.5hrs) and wire.

Us sales people get other perks that installers don't, such as points programs and incentives from our distributors, it's the installer that is often forgotten, yet the most important asset and sales tool we got.
No you're not "tools".., umm well, you know what I mean
