Allright I know it makes money for the owner of this board but if you put ad's everywhere this place starts to look like a cheesy board

It's starting to look like a big commercial around here, there's ads everywhere!

My 2 cents

Thanks for the constructive feedback (without bitching) .. I know the admins were putting the ads up there as a trial and are watching to see what sort of reaction they get from everyone.

Chris, would you like to purchase a specific section, rates are cheap

That being said, yes, only sold for a certain period to try it out.
It may appear cheesy, but to get the giveaways going that sponsors spring for, or giveaways that come out of my pocket, revenue has to come from somewhere and there has to be benefits to them.

Every business has an opportunity to purchase space. I don't wont to compromise the site in anyway by making the ads intrusive, and the consensus is we haven't done that. You're the first to bring it up.

You are more than welcome to contact me if you would like to promote your business beyond what you are currently doing, and i will be glad to honor your rates as before; but from the sounds of it you're displeased.

Sorry about the appearance of the board, it does have a trial run period of 3 and 6 months.

Hi Chris,

We've decided to try this type of advertising for a trial period. I assure you we watch user stats and user behaviour such as # of pages browsed, avg time spent on the board and user return rates like hawks.

Once it has been confirmed by statistics that this type of advertising is harmful to the board and the user experience, we will not be renewing these types of banner ads.

This form of banner advertising was implemented to give existing active sponsors (at their current, not newer rates) a chance to be more active and visible in their areas of interest.

I hope that clears it up a bit.

Yup, i got ya.
The board from one angle may be clutted with ads, but at least its ads from shops that have good reputation.

Sponsors are great, and as some of the current vendors here know, i have actually refunded vendors money and sent them away because of how they treat their customers, or not accept them at all.

The core group of vendors here are great. I try to keep all in the loop, all are welcome to call me or pm, and all are welcome to inquire about purchasing add space.

We will see how it goes and if it doesn't work out, we wont keep them there.

Hi Tim,

Long time no speak. I hope all is well. I am very happy to see you actively participating in all sections of the board. I know how much our presence really means to you. This evening I had a lovely conversation with Rick about your posting habits as he was sharpening his ban stick. It took some carefully planned maneuvering to bring his evil intentions to a halt. Sad to say your name came up again as the one to be voted off the island. If I were in your shoes, I would keep doing exactly what you're doing now, except to try to distance myself from threads, which shine a fair light on his administrative practices. This is merely a friendly reminder, that while we enjoy your company and knowledge on the board, from time to time we have to remember that your presence is optional.

I hope you will continue to enjoy yourself on our little island.

Cheers,

GTcars

P.S. Rick try not to reply to this thread.
