trade proposal

my buddy wants to trade his oldschool rockford 800a2 for my new alpine MRP-M450... i dont even know what to think... essentially twice the power for free... it will only be powering a single old rockford 10" (rfp-1210), but im trying to find another to pair with it. anyways... any opinions on the dealio?

Take the deal. Those old amps were good for almost if not over 1000w rms into 4 ohm mono. Find a pair of dvc 4 ohm subs and wire them in series parallel to 4 ohm and reap the benefits.

Jeeper, I agree with Rob. I am running 4 15's (rockford dvc's) with two 800a2's and still love them after 5+ years of owning them. I'd take that deal in a new york minute.

My best friend used to have an 800a2 hooked up to two 10" rockford hx2's in a 98 civic. It was bangin, no doubt.

Solid amps imo.

There's a reason why there's still tons of those "a-series" RF's on Ebay even after 8 or more years of faithfull service: they're studs.

As long as that 800a2 hasn't had an unpleasant lifespan I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

you'll need a new sub after you hook that beast up to it.. Thats from rockfords glory days. Nice amp my buddy had 4 of them, they run insane hot but work really well. Do not mount under a seat.

You might want to get yourself another 10.

are there any bad signs an old amp could potentially show? i've noticed the little gain **** is very sensitive and goes nuts when cranked.

btw... is there any harm in running the sub on 1 channel instead of bridging it?

and who knows where to find another rfp-1210 from around '98? ha
