Interested in picking up a tube amp to run my front end Boston Pro Comp.Anyone with experience or input on Tube amps. Want to know if it is practical in the car enviroment and if the sound is noticable compared to a standard class A/B amp, better or not worth the upgrade. Thanks

Boston Pro comps really shine with a lot of power. I would stay with a large (200rms+ per side) class A/B for them.

The tubes are more than rugged enough for automotive applications
Tubes produce a lot of heat (but are not terribly heat sensitive) BUT electronics around them can be affected
Tubes make a difference in the car, some say better some will say worse (judgment call if you like tube sound you will like tube amps, though RC says it makes no difference )
Tubed units are usually hybrids in the car, to limit their weaknesses

Tubes are fine in a car and offer a uniquely warm sound in my opinion. I listened to a pure tube amp at CES 2005 on a set of prototype Image Dynamics horns. WOW!!! The amps were from TRU Technology. TRU Technology has both a pure tube amp and a Hybrid tube amp.
