tweeter placement

I'm looking to add a component set to my 1997 sunfire, but I'm having trouble trying to find a good place to mount them. I'm also not sure what I'm going to get for components.

Here is are pictures of the interior.

I found this setup below, but I'm not sure how well its going to sound. With just the 6.5'' in the door (is what I have in there) if someone is sitting in the passenger seat their leg blocks most of the sound.

I was thinking the tweeter would work best here?

Any other suggestions?

I think the biggest problem is that I need this to stay looking stock. The other is that I don't think I could test different locations, as the only place I can work on this is 3hours away. So I would have to make up my mind quite quickly.

I've also never done anything with fiber glass.

I had my 6.5s in the door with the tweeters right above them. I cut hole and mounted in that carpeted area of the door. as high as i could to the tip of the "triangle". I had power windows though but still may work for you? no glassing involved. The sound was good and it was just high enuf that knees didnt get in the way.
And the best part was when i sold the car i removed tweeters and glued the cutouts back in, good as new lol well almost.

Thanks alot!
I thought there would have been more to it then that. Dont they have to be angled at you or something?

My car doesn't have power windows, so that damn window crank is in the way.

Ya most tweeters swivel around some so you can point em upwards, hard to tell in the pic but thats how i had mine and it sounded just fine to me. I decided to mount my speaker on the door panel, you can put it in factory spot if thats your preference.

that stock location for the tweeter sucks donkey *****! (your third pic down, with the tweeter "pod" right at your shin) My sunfire has this setup and i cant stand it. Gonna try to put my large format tweeters up in the apiller/side mirror area, im sure with a little fibreglassing it'll be quite easy to massage that in there. I say keep them away from your legs and things will work out for you.

Actually, having the tweeters where the manual mirror adjust isn't a bad idea. I'm sure the driver side 'arm' could be removed and place the tweeter there. Considering that the passenger side mirror can't even be adjusted within the vehicle (no arm, have to poke the mirror) might as well remove the driver side one.
The only hard part would be making the fiber glass look stock..

If anyone is going to attempt (or has) please post an update!

Any thoughts if thats going to sound good? Do you think its too faraway from the mid range?
