U.S. ordering..UPS delivered 5 mins ago..breakdown.
I know there is a thread somewhere about this, but since UPS hit my door 5 minutes ago I thought I'd lay it out.
ORDER: $150.00 U.S. or about $190.00 Canuck Bucks including money order. Would have been cheaper if I had of used my credit card.
TAX-DUTY-BROKERAGE FEE $68.96 total. Brokerage fee was $39.00, the rest was tax & duty.
Shipping was free because I hit a Christmas special.
UPS guy takes credit card at door, or cash, check, everything except debit.
So there you have it, a $150.00 U.S. item translates into about $260.00 Canadian by the time it hits your door, factoring in exchange rate, etc.

There is no additional charges, brokerage or duty is the item is less than $100, it would have been cheaper to have them understate the value and been insured for 100 instead or paying $70 to insure that extra $50

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I have purchased a 2x holsters a few months ago at $30CDN each, and needless to say, by the time they got to my door I was out $140CDN. So I don't know what happened in my case but I have always paid brokerage even under $100.

my bad, ups charges "brokerage fees" starting at $20 (Item value), maybe it's USPS I'm thinking of?
HERE's a link to UPS's brokerage charges....avoid these clowns at all cost
keep in mind the rates you see posted do not include Canadian taxes (cannot be avoided) or duty charges.

It has to do with free trade and "free movement" of goods between participating countries.
The part I am unclear on is whether you still pay up front and get reimbursed, or whether its duty free from the get go.

USPS is not as bad as UPS!! or FEdex... I got assraped a few times by these clowns...I almost refuse to order from the states now..Next time I will just use a US addy, go get it myself @ the other side and smuggle across(depending on how big of course)
