The Ultimate Dilemma

The Ultimate Dilemma
hello, i recently bought a ultimate t3 1000d amp ( like 9 days ago) and it seems to have allready broken. the input sensitivity dial stoped working. i can turn it all around and it doesnt change anything, and also if you push on it it makes the amp make huge noise out of the subs. even with no signal going into the amp. i have a 3 year warrenty for the store to fix it , but only 30 days to bring it back and get a different one. So i have a couple options,
1) i can bring it to the store and they will send it away to get it fixed.
2) i could bring it there and exchange it for a different amp. im kinda leaning toward getting a different amp, one that is CEA certified and is a brand that i know i can trust. im kinda worried about reliability. the store also sells kicker amps which i know are good. its hard to decide because im not sure if i will be able to get another amp with the same amont of watts as this one for the same price.
sorry about the super long post and spelling and grammer
any help is appreciated

Take the thing back and get a exchange to a different amp. I guess it really depends on the quality of the amp you want. Does the ultimate really make the power it claims (as in overrated) and the Kicker make the power it claims (underrated), somewhere in there lies the answer.

First of all Ultimate is not over rated. It actually makes the power it says. Even on bench test they do more power. The problem your having is just a fluke issue. Most likely a solder joint issue. I would exchange it. Ultimate has a one year OTC warranty no BS about it. And the only issue with these amps is they have to be hooked up in a certain way and they have to have 0 Gauge and second battery recommended to be a proper installation. That is a serious amp guy. They should give you a brand new one no questions asked thats Ultimates policy. No horror stories about it when properly fed and connected. Hugh power and look awsome. Talk to Killer_Klown he's got one and loves it. If you have any problems with a swap OTC (Over the Counter) PM me.

Yes, I absolutely love my T31000D, Im running it at like half volume and it hurts to sit in my car!! And that otc rule, Believe me, I don't know what happened with my first one, but Steve stepped up, hands down didn't think twice and just gave me a brand new one!!! NO BS!!! I have had nothing but good things to say about them, and as for the sensitivity issue, I can't say that I have had this problem yet, but Im sure if I did, Steve would gimme a new one ..I like the amps, VERY loud! very clean bass, and for the price...YEAH...So I 2nd the notion of return it for a new one

hey thanks guys.
im not sure if it is putting iut its rated rms watts but it sure does a good job of bottoming out my 2 15'' 700rms subs. ( they are like no name brand but they pound super hard with this amp. i think i would like to stay with this Ultimate amp but there is a big snag- the store i bought it from (Visions electronics, edmonton) has no more in stock and the guy said that they stoped making them. And when i bought it i had to go to this other visions store to pick it up and they only had 2 left, so il be lucky if they have anymore. he did say that if i have troble with it i can bring it back and get a new one, but if they dont have any thats a problem. The gain **** thats broken is just a loose wire or something i think.

Hmm well I would leave that part up to them just take it back and see if they can source a replacement for you. I know in a few months the new T3 series is suppose to launch so thats probably why the shortage.

i am also running on of the t3 1000d amps in my car powering 2 - 15" (older) rockfords.
I have had no problems with it so far and I am only using 4 gauge wires and am only running it at 1600 watts.
It pounds great and I can't wait till i do the necessary upgrades to run this amp at full potential.
