So, I sold my Ultimate T3 1000D to a friend. He was REALLY excited to throw it (and his new subs) into his vehicle but I told him to wait until I could install it. Well, that didn't happen. Him and his dad tried doing it. He came up to me and said it randomly stops playing and a week later he came up to me and said that when he tries installing a fuse on the power wire it blows, even if the car is off. Well, I went and checked it out and upon inspection I found a ground that led to the top of the truck and screwed down to a PAINTED surface. I pretty much wanted to b*tch slap him right there. Thank God he took it like a man and realized that it was his error and that I do not have to give him his money back.

That is my story now here is a question: Why does the fuse blow? The amp is properly hooked up and as soon as he turns the cd player on the fuse blows?

 

Sounds like the damage is already done.

 

If the amp is blown its not because of a bad ground... but it does sound like its let out some majik smoke...

 

I dunno dude, when I had the amp it ran PERFECT. I had absolutely no problems with it. If he had a crappy ground and was cranking it up he was trying to pull a LOT of watts through a little tiny ground that is covered in paint. Wouldn't this heat up the amp to really dangerous levels? And maby that would fry some wires or something inside the amp. Does that sound like something that could happen?

 

Well its got some pretty serious power. What thickness was the ground?

 

I believe it was 2 gauge.

 

Well if you like I can warranty it for you shipping at your cost. I have one here to replace it will. But I suggest running 0 directly next time and a clean paint and dirt free ground and be sure not to put a lower load then 2ohms on it mono or 4ohms stereo as the terminals are bridged within in it.

naa, limiting the power to an amp isn't going to cause it to fail... but I would make sure you go over all the wiring connections and settings before a new amp goes back in because something does sound wrong, and with a n00b at the helm who knows what it is...

don't rule out shorting tinsel leads on his subs either....

 

Looks like everyone has problems with T3-1000D. First time I had transistors blown on it, and now i hear some noise from my subs that originates from the amp. In my opinion this amp is pretty nicely constructed, but made of cheap parts. I'll post up the pics of my setup soon.
