Underhung Motor & basket by Ascendant Audio

Does anyone know what a Ascendent Audio Avalanche under hung motor with XBL2 TM enabled motor for ultra low distortion is and is worth? This is a new motor design that the coil never leaves the motor giving it higher BL creating greater force, efficiency, response and ultra low distortion. I have the Ascendant Audio Avalanche under hung machined 33 pound motor, 12" basket that's been painted, prepped & cleaned I also have a nice cone, Sub Sonic dust cover & coil but the coil is bad. Wanting to sell but I've heard different values so I'd like to know a little more of an idea of what it's truly worth in this nice condition. Thanks.

I'm wanting $75 plus shipping out of it otherwise I'll just build it and keep it. Thank you.

I'v got a grave yard of baskets and motors....... with out a working cone assembly in them they are worth basically nothing

I gave a few away and threw a few in the scrap bin at Knoxs Mt Metal ,saved a few to use as door stops....

unless you find someone wanting that exact sub and is willing to recone you might get $50 for it but it would cost more than that to ship it

This is a new technology, not just some average motor. It hasn't been out long so it's nothing like your graveyard of motors. I've all ready had offers of $75 & $100 and several trades just trying to find out what it's worth before I sell it. FI and other companies make drop in recones for them. Nice FI drop in is $95. I know most people don't know about this technology, I didn't until a week ago but it's used on high end sound quality subs. This motor has the new XBL2 technology that gives it deeper bass while remaining distortion free and precise.

I have made enclosures for almost every sub made including the XBL2 design
..it's nothing new the AA Anarchy's ,RE XXX ,JBL and a few others carry the technology
a few of my systems have had XBL2 subs

I have some 6.5" Anarchy Midbass on the way to me as we speak for my
active front stage

if you can get $100 for it TAKE IT.....

I'm only asking $75 plus shipping for it and I know it's not brand new technology but it's new enough that I don't see someone having a graveyard full of them or scrapping them. I just built an custom RE sub. Scott designed these on his own after leaving RE and paying royalties to Dan Wiggins for this design. It breaks the magnetic gap into more than one region, meaning instead of a typical motor that has a single high flux gap in the center, there are two or more gaps in the motor that have narrower high flux regions. Then, the coil is sized to optimize BL over the curve, mainly so that the coil will extend from the center of the top gap to the center of the bottom gap, that way when it leaves one high flux region, it enters the other. Its a way of using the gap and motor strength more effectively to control distortion and cone.

I know what XBL2 is , I have ran JBL Wgti subs for years
you should see the coils on a Wgti.....they are about 2" apart
JBL calls it "Differential Drive"
....still the best sounding car audio woofer I have ever owned or heard
not the loudest or hardest hitting but they grab EVERY SINGLE NOTE
flawlessly....

just to bad they have formers that start on fire.....LOL

here's a pic of a 10" XBL2 I fried last month ... t took 2500w rms for about 3 months untill a braided lead broke and SMOKED the other coil

Damn, that sucks that your sub fried like that. So the JBL Wgti has two separate coils and obviously a deeper motor? Does it come in different DVC configurations? I've never seen a sub with separate coils on same former like that? It sounds like a sub I'd love to have if it grabs every note like you describe. I been trying to switch over to SQ but the technology changes so rapidly and I never knew a lot about it to begin with so I really don't know as much about it as I'd like to specially when it comes to all the different sound processors and the different types of equipment available to tune and enhance sound.

to bad JBL discontinued the Wgti subs

I have moved on to the SSA Icons for now , they still need ALOT of break in
but they are starting to sound decent
