how much difference would it make?

If I were to put in a second sub and larger amp, how much of a difference will that make?

Going from a single 10" JL 10w6v2 to dual 10" 10w6v2 powered by a JL 500/1 instead of a 250/1 amp. Sealed box.

has nobody ever doubled both the amp power and added a second sub before? and able to explain what difference it made
just wondering before I spend money on something that might not be worth it

You're doubling your bass end so it's obviously going to be louder.
You're still only left with two 10's and 500rms so it's not going to be crazy if that's what you're expecting.

If your current driver is sealed then you may want to consider porting it before spending the cash on the new gear.

Try to realize what it is that you want to get out of your system and then we'll have an idea what it is that may best suit you.

Thumbs up

/\ What he said....those are great woofers, but a single one will handle the 500/1 no problems...

That looks like a pretty nice system listed in your sig. Have you heard the W6 in a ported box? Maybe a new enclosure would make a better starting point for an upgrade....it would certainly be cheaper than another driver or the 500/1, which you could still get later....

the hit in the chest feeling

the way my trunk is designed two tens is all I can put in there, maybe my next upgrade will be to a ported box

I had Power Acoustik A1800DB running two Blaupunkt 10" overdrives, ported box, that was a great setup, hit hard enough for me. But sadly one of the subs developed a tear in the rubber surround and it was game over for that setup. Couldn't get a replacement as they no longer made that model. Been trying different setups since.

What I have now isn't the same level so I need to go change something.

That trunk is a huge beyatch. You should easily be able to get two 12's in that trunk. Bigger amp, bigger subs, bigger wire and custom box = chest hurting, eyes jiggling ear hurting bass.

that is where the box sits, 12" of height

maybe you were thinking of putting the box right in the middle of the trunk, thats not how I like it
