I'm considering this amp, but have read a few things which have given me pause. It seems the US Amps ownership changed somehow a while ago, the moved factories, and they put out some very bad amps immediately after. So there are quite a few people po-po'ing this amp line for that reason. Others suggest that the quality is back now, and while this amp isn't "old school" quality, it's decent enough for the price. Anybody have any thoughts? Even better: anybody own one of the current Xterminator amps?
Thanks,

I have this amp and have been running it for just over a year, sound quality is amazing, it looks a little plain but it really performs well. Yes U.S. Amps were bought out but the same guys who built the original amps are still the ones who engineer and design all of the amps. I bought mine at Selective Sound and I have been very pleased with the results.

Ah well, it was a shot in the dark. They just installed Morels in my car a few weeks ago.
Thanks for your thoughts. The amp almost seems too good to be true in terms of price/performance, and that's a bit worrying. I wonder if the MD.43 cost would be outrageous...

Yeah Davis is trying to convince me into getting the Morels aswell. How do you like them? I have heard a few cars with them in and they sound really nice but a liitle steep for my budget. I know another car that is in Davis' shop that is running all md's. Talk to Davis about it he won't steer you wrong.

Well, I'm running them off of the HU right now
I will also say that I'm new to aftermarket car audio, and don't really have a lot of points of comparison. Just factory systems...
So that said, I'm very happy with them so far. They deadened the hell out of doors when the did the install. At lower volumes, the bass is pretty deep. I believe their 40hz rating. At higher volumes, it's distorting kinda bad. Until I get an amp, I'm not going to know for sure why. But I think these things will cross over at 80Hz with a sub and put out serious niceness.
They sound better than my Audi, I'll say that. They are at least as good as my previous BMW (running a premium Harmon Kardon setup). Probably better. Tough to compare from a car I got rid of a year ago.

Alpine CDA-9885.
You know, you should tell Davis that I talked you into the Morels, and I'll tell him that you talked me into the US-Amps... maybe get a discount.
I wish I could give you a more objective answer, but i've never heard MB Quarts, Focals, etc, etc. What do you have now?

I am running the Db Drive platinum series components, they sound really good but I find the tweeter a little bright, but other than that I have no complaints. I will mention to Davis that I was talking to you and see what kind of discount he can offer.
