thanks BRG , I know where a shop is in town , It's just that dealers around these parts don't put that kind of money in a wall < kids down here can be very disrespectful of other peoples property > in fact they don't even keep ANY really high end in stock .

The TLR sounds like an MB Quart next to the BE.

As for the F#1 tweeter...I've said it before and I'll say it again....it sucks. I found it VERY fatiguing(sp?) I was impressed for about 5 minuets....then I had to rest my ears....that to me, suggests a POS tweet.

The TN52 sounds better than the F#1 tweet IMO.

But to each his/her own I guess.

l was told alpines F 1 is made by scanspeak. alpine uses metal parts scanspeak plastic. the price difference is about 1500. the woofer looks exactly the same from both . l would love to hear the justification on price for the focal, raw materials, manufacturing process, no one talks about the reason for price.
exclusive mark up or not

^ True. And with a half-cube behind it, you are listening to basically a very expensive set of bookshelf speakers in a somewhat controlled environment. I have little doubt they are really nice sounding speakers, but it would be interesting to see that same set put behind some grille cloth right beside say a $300 set of 6.5 components on a board and take 'taste tests' with the public to see who likes what better. Logos and price tags can do wonders for sound quality

Just as an aside, last year when I went to the local IASCA and USAC competitions here I got very favorable comments about my high end, tonality wise. My imaging and staging needs some work but I always got "nice highs" on my scoresheets. And this is from 4 different judges who I don't think know each other. My tweets? A $30 pair of Tangband Dynaudio D25 knock-offs Must be something about that nice big 4" metal flange and 1" dome visible through the speaker grilles.

Oh yeah, I also use self-made RCA cables with 20 ga. alarm wire twisted tightly together, and 16 ga. alarm wire twisted together for speaker cable with (gasp!) crimped bullet connectors!!

From what I have listened to so far...... the Be tweeter still havn't impressed me in presenting the realism of the performance. They are definately smooth... but why pay big bucks for just smooth.

The previous Focal TLR in the other hand are much more alive, musical & very dynamic. but any driver with an aggressive motor could sound bad if they're not set up properly..... just like the Dynaudio Esotar or the F-1 Scanspeak tweeter and HLCD etc.
