V900XD visonik Amp gave out:( need opinion
Wasup Wasup! its the stang man with bass!
Unfortunately today i was driving to work listening to linkin park at no where ear damaging volume, and my amp went into protection mode
unplug everything only turn it on with the remote wire negative and positive hooked up and the amp went into protection mode
My system is a v900xd at 2 ohm doing 1000rms push 2 Kicker l5's in a custom box built and design by our own builder and designer on cca
Now am wondering, is it worth sending the amp to repair?(S&S electronic) is just a few minute from me
or
just get a new one
the amp been wonderfull to me, i open it up and did some ohm reading and it look like 1 of the mosfet are blown irf640 reading nada
(giving me no ohm reading the rest are 0.6~)
should i get it repaired? the component it self is like 3-4$ at sayal or ebay
if i should get it fix , anyone know approx cost of this repair?
Thanks for the responds!

S&S has like a 43498 year wait time... and thats just for them to look at the bloody thing.
if you know what you are doing, and whats wrong with the amp, then fix it yourself.
if not, look into getting something new, that will last you quite away down the road.
if you dont wanna go new, check the classifieds

he's probably right bro. nothing against S & S, and though I've never sent an amp there for repair (thank you competitor warranty ) and I'm sure they do awesome work, I've heard from a lot of people that it takes quite some time to get the amp back. I've heard from people in the store it takes a while too. could be they're just really backed up with everyone going there to make sure the job is done right, but still, unless you know them I think you're gonna have to wait quite some time

You have to ask yourself what happened in the first place. What caused the transistor to "blow"? You might also want to test some of the resistors close by... usually a failed resistor (from heat), or low voltage/high amperage causes the fets to fail.
Good luck man, hope it all works out for you.

i think i know what happend, the negative and positive of the speaker touched becauase the boxed moved during a hard /fast turn and the positive came in contact with the negative for a long duration of time....
would this most likely fry the irf640 chip(output mosfet)

so it confirmed , 1 of the transistor are burnt he said he will replace all of them for 100$
so i went ahead and get it done he said because the negative n positive speaker wire definitely could of shorted and over heated it , or it died of age(amp is about 6 year old)
but i rather repair it, even he said he havent seen one of theses in a while but they can go as low as 0.5 if u remove the protection circuit and push out about 2000rms at 14v
