vibration: not sure what I'm hearing

After listening to my newly installed stereo for a while, at decent volumes I am starting to pick out things I wish sounded even better. I spent a crapload on all this gear and install, but because of my inexperience I'm not sure what I'm hearing.

When I make my subs pound, I seem to be hearing a subtle vibration along with the note. I cant pick out anything in particular that seems to be rattling... just kind of a resonance.

I hope its not my speakers, cuz I spent a lot.

Is bass supposed to be one continuos tone, without any variation (i.e. a subtle vibration to the ear)?

Could it just be the resonance of my vehicle (its not a brand new SUV)?

Are my subs to blame? (kaption CL series, 12")

I just want to learn more, and understand what it is I am hearing, and what my options are to improve the sound into the future.

Thanks everyone!

yea its hard to tell without hearing it or anything.. best thing you can do is turn it up till you hear that noise and then just walk around your car get closer to the subs, try to narrow down were its comming from basically, thats all you really can do

keep in mind that everything will vibrate at a certain frequency... if you a part of your dashboard vibrates at exactly 42hz everytime your sub hits that specific frequency it will rattle along with the music... its all trial and error.. door handles, door panels, seatbelt recoils, power window mechanisms, they all can and will rattle if you feed them the right note.. sometimes all it takes is a piece of electrial tape in between two plastic panels to stop the rattle... just keep at it, I know it can be frustruating (and annoying) but once you find where it is coming from you've won half the battle, then you just need a little macgiver ingenuity to kill that annoying interference

I actualy put dynamat not just on the interior metal but on the backs of the plastic panels as well , example , door panel rears and any other part I could remove . It worked maricales espescialy in the rear where the subs are .

^ is right. You should be able to source and fix any vibration issue. Why dont you spray some rubberized undercoating where you think the vibration is coming from?...(you can get this @ cdn tire for about $6 a can). It worked great for me...Or you can get spray dynamat for about $35 a can..

Could you post the car you're driving maybe someone else has already defeated your problem... I personally have just sprayed mine and it doesn't seem to be a problem for me... I also took out the plate where the trunk fastens when it closes... took a round file to the 2 holes where it gets bolted this way the trunk closes slightly tighter than before...
