voltage matching between deck and amp

Hi everyone... nice forum.

Can anyone tell me any issues with hooking up an eclipse 5444 deck that has 5v preout to an oldschool soundstream refernce 300 with an input range up to only 2.5v? If there are issues, is there any way to deal with them. This is what i have so i need to know how to do it correctly so that i don't hurt anything!

cheers.

No issues that I found when I hooked many of those amps up to 5volt, even 8 volt Eclipse head units.

I couldnt run my 8v Eclipse with my SS reference amps, even contacted SS and they told me I needed to change the amps or the deck?? My 604 dosent really perform as well with my 4v Eclipse as it did with the lower output of the stock deck so I dont know???

If the amp puts out full power at 2.5v how can you give it 5?
I know on my alpine (4v ) it distorted the amp when i turned it up a bit,but on the alpine you can go into the crossover menu and turn down the output of the channels and it solved the problem, any chance the eclipse has that feature?

I had a Rubicon 502, that would cut out if a place a line driver on it. But I have not had the issue with just a headunit in line.

music is dynamic. you dont get 5 volt, 8 volt or even 2.5 volt for any length of time. i don't think you'd have and problem because of that fact.

enjoy your music.
