Hey folks

Picked up an RE XXX 12 a few months ago to replace my two alpine's but it's not quite loud enough for what i wanted. So i'm lookin at the possibility of pickin up another.

Now i've heard that their subs changed. Does that mean i'm somewhat screwed in buying new and they i'll have to find a used or someone that still has a new 05 sub?

or are the changes so minimal it won't matter or what?

oh no - the brand-new XXX chassis is a radical redesign. They are not even CLOSE to the 05 model you have - and you'll likely be waiting a while for release dates.

Sorry bud....

Yes the new XXX replacement is rumoured to be quite different.
Try playing around with different enclosures.

how much power are you giving it?

what are the box specs?

id try a several different box designs before i started adding/changing the equipment itself.

1200w or whatever a viper 1200.1 puts out for it....i assume between 1200 and 1300...

3.5 cf @ 31hz with 37 sq" o port

like it sounds decent....other than having a bit more low end and less high end than my alpines, not that it's a bad thing...just brings out other imperfections in my stereo heh. But it's about equivalent to my alpines (of which the box i'm not 100% sure what its specs were other htan ported). Overall, it's a bit quieter, but close.

and you're running the amp at 1 ohm?

Hardcore Rock Superstar 01-07-2006 04:13 PM

yes sir....unless i'm retarded. But yeah pretty sure it's at one ohm. There is the possible chance that i messed up the wires, but i checked them about a million times, so i'd say 1ohm.

did you make the box yourself? how well is it sealed?
