Hey guys I have installed my alpine type r sub and now I am noticing that my stock speakers just cant keep up to sub.

I was thinking of getting these speakers

also should I put an amp to the speakers? Can I just install the speakers and then if I dont think its loud enough add an amp?

I really like alpine but im not sure about polk? are they any good?

Best bet might be to get an amp for your stock speakers and upgrade speakers later.

Your new speakers will most defenetly be LESS loud on your deck power then the stock speakers. If you want more volume get an amp, then if you want more volume still, get new speakers.

I wouldn't buy those baffles, I don't see any positive that they could do..

Ya I want new speakers because the stock ones distort at a low level. So I was thinking that I would by some new ones so they dont distort. I dont really think it has to be really loud. but Im just tired of the bad quality sound and tired of it distorting.

so what do you guys think about Polk Audio?

OK. so what amp would you suggest? how many watts should I want/need per channel? I have only set up an amplifier for my subwoofer. Is it the same kind of thing?

would this amp work. or would you go more powerfull?

when Installing an amplifier to the speakers do you have to run all new wiring? or can you just use the stock wiring.

That amp will work fine.....use it in 4 channel mode on your stock speakers for now, they will sound a lot better than they do running off the deck amp....if and when you get better front speakers (get them first before you buy new rears) you can bridge the amp and really power up those fronts.....

Since the new amp will have to be installed somewhere besides the dash, you will need to run new speaker wire from the amp....for now, run the new wires back to the dash and use the factory wires to get into the doors.....once you upgrade and bridge the amp you will want to run new wire right into the doors at that point.....

Ya the speakers I have right now really suck They distort at a low level of volume so you think that adding an amplifier will make them sound better? how does this work..

And how do I use the amplifier to power the stock speakers?

Ive only installed a subwoofer. It seems much simpler than installing speakers.

The part I really dont understand is how to wire the speakers to the amp and then how to get them all connected to the deck.
And running new wire seems like a pain is it?

Turn down the base and your stock speakers won't sound so distorted. My bet is on your head unit causing the distortion, not your speakers, unless they are broken.

Running new speaker wire is a pain,I enjoy doing it though, but sometimes you can tap into the stock wireing and use that.

You can use the stock wiring, but it depends on the guage and the power you're planning to put through them. Some cars with upgraded audio systems have pretty decent oem wiring, and if you're modest with the power going to them you can use it with good results. Just as an example; 18 awg speaker wire is good for up to 115 watts at a distance up to 40 ft with up to 1 dB loss. Most oem wiring is about 18 awg, and the runs are well under 40 ft, so as long as you don't send more than 115 watts rms through them(with 4 ohm speakers)...you're good to go.
