welding a woofer basket?
well.. i have a dd9512 here, like new, but it has a nice crack through 1 of the 4 spokes on the basket. now i really not 100% sure what the baskets are made of? i think aluminum? [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] what i need is to know if you can weld this, and how?

take it to a welding shop and let them handle it, they can do an awesome job, for very cheap. At least then, you know its going to be a phenominal job, using the right heat, voltage, gas etc. Shouldn't cost you more then $30 or so really....
^ You can do that? Holy crap, Subs these days are really something. I have a basket here, it has 4 "spokes" its for a 15". Its the old basket for my Kove M15. Its your for free if it'll work for you. Its just scrap metal to me.
thanks guys... well i woould want to get a new basket, but it's just a crack that i belive can be welded, so i'd like to try to get it welded first! i don't want to spend anyore time or $$ waiting for parts and stuff right now. ewll try the weld first!

If you weld it it will most likely deform the basket a little. Aluminum is a pain in the ***, especially cast aluminum.
