What amp should I keep, help me choose.
I have 2 amps and I am not to sure which one I should use. I believe I will eventually get a more powerfull 5 channel amp but for now have these 2 at my disposal.
First one up is a 4 channel RF X400.4 50watts RMS X 4 @4ohms: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...17_67_full.jpg The other choice is a 4 channel Cadence Amadeus 4000 , they dont specify RMS power but looking at the fuses, power seems similar to the RF amp (2x25amp fuses). http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...17_68_full.jpg The Cadence is much heavier and smaller and shiner but not sure about its performance. I have never had trouble with RF. I do have a matching mono RF 401S but I think i will try and get rid of it for something else later on. So what amp to choose and why? The amp will be powering a set of Canton QS3.28 130watts RMS @ 4ohm or I can bi amp the passive xover and I am pretty sure the amp will see 8 ohms instead of 4. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...17_65_full.jpg Thanks for the opinions guys. |
I say if the power's there use it. If you're going through the passive's then use both amps and bridge them both bi-amping on the crossover's.

I won't be keeping both amps, just one, I really dont want more then one amp powering my system since it needs to be stealthy and out of the way.

Be it because one is prettyer, because of prejudice or whatever. :) |

Kickass drivers, incidentally.    |
Oh and I would use the RF for no reason other than it is RF :smokin:

RF! I have never had a problem with their amps in over 20 years, and many installs in many cars!

I am confused also as to what impedance the amp would see if I were to run a dedicated channel to each driver. Still 4 ohm? 8 ohm? I just realised that my second RF amp is a 2 channel and not a mono one, so I could perhaps tri-amp the set... |
