Exclamation What to do/what to get

I live in Canada, and my subs just blew.

I am running this off of an Alpine 9886 head unit.
I already have 8 guage wires, i have a Sony Xplod 1200Watt amp and a box for two 10" subs (might want a new box as well)....

I can get 2 Alpine type E subs for $160 used in a box, but they are $130 each new. Is this a good deal or what kind of subs should i get.

I am not looking to spend a huge amount on subs. I would like $300 MAX with taxes included.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thank-you

I can have you a pair of Pioneer Premiere 12" subs for that price delivered inc. taxes. New with full warranty. I would need to know the model # of your amp so as to make sure the right version of the sub is shipped. If you are going to build a new box, might as well do it for new subs.

Best Buy Sale on TypeE <<< Link to BestBuy.ca. $95. Sale ends on Friday though.

Out of curiousity, what subs were you using previously? Can you post a picture of your amp, especially with the dial and *****? Just wondering why your subs might have blown. Would hate to see you get new subs, only to encounter the same problem...

I previously had 2 10" MTX blue thunder 1000W 2ohm dual coil subs that were bridged

I have a dual 10" ported box (shown below)

and this is my amp (shown below)
with another picture of the settings

They are LEVEL LOW BOOST FILTER
b/w 2&.5 about 75% Set to off by switch and about 60-110

I do not know if i should get 10" subs, or what ones, and or get 12" with a whole new box.

i'd be checking out the IDQ. as of a couple days ago you could pick some up for $150 in scarborough. they normally go for around 250ish. save yourself some room, well under your budget, and they are amazing subs.

check out custom on hopkins, they carry hertz/audison, pioneer, image dynamics, kenwood, hybrid.

between those companies, there isn't anything you can't find that isn't a good product for a good deal.

Get rid of that box for starters. That is one of the most abusive types of boxes known, a great way to destroy subs. Now that we hae that covered, you have a blank canvas to paint on. If you want lots of output and have the room go to a pair of 12" subs and have the proper slot port box built for the subs you purchase. Your amp is 500w rms into 4 ohm mono or 200w rms x 2 into 4 ohm. You need a pair of dvc4 ohm subs or a single 4 ohm sub if you want only 1. The box is the single most important part of the equation here, screw up on it and you might as well be eating yellow snow, pissing in the wind..... bass response is all about the box. If you cannot build one yourself, I will find someone to build one for you.
