Here is what you are missing. For some reason you have an issue with me. You see things how you want to see regardless of what was written.

(1) "You need a whole pile more info to make an educated and informed buying decision"

Would you not agree that if you fail to do this you make a bad decision in general and can end up with crud. This is a yes or no type of answer.

(2) "Or you can slow down a bit, ask some questions, answer some of our questions and we can see where it goes from there." This tells pretty much anyone that here is someone willing to help and that there is more than one person who can provide information.

(3) "Nowhere did any gear get bashed" Direct quote me a line where I directly bashed a product or even a person.

Go to the Kenwood.ca site, pull up the amp and show me on the main page, where are the power ratings in CEA2006 format. Now maybe I missed them, maybe I did not. Can I find them and did I find them, yup, buried in the instruction manuals that the manufacturer knows few people will go to. My issue is not necessarily with Kenwood here for doing this as plainly evidenced by "I bashed a company that does not put the CEA2006 power ratings out front for the paying customer to see. I would bash any line that did this, including lines that I sell here in my store." but with all manufacturers in general that take this stance.

Pinhead, I made no personal attack on you, yet you feel obligated to make one on me as evidenced by your comments throughout this thread. I recommend that you stop it at this time.

Question who knows best?

I totally agree with smartass and MR2NR. First of all, I am not a vendor but have had my share of systems most using almost all major brands on the market. Would I throw in my 2cents about what I think is crap and what isn't? Maybe - but someone who deals in the sales of merchandise is going to have heard ALOT more than I've heard, and is entitled to their opinion of it, most likely knowing better than you about the broad spectrum of options available.

Also, it wasnt' like he said "your kenwood is crap you need to pick up an awesome eclipse setup from me." All he said was that the company [kenwood] appears to be trying to mislead the customer when the only ratings he can find for the kenwood say 1800.

To an uninformed buyer this would appear the better buy versus the alpine, since one is rated RMS and one MAX.

I, as a customer, think less of kenwood for doing this and I will call it crud. My sister bought a kenwood amp because she was confused about the ratings system and I thought it didn't even live up to what was it's stated RMS rating. Wasn't a CEA2006 rating either, this was the end of '04.

I think what you are missing is that fact that no one called the equipment crud. It was stated that without an educated and thought out plan that the OUTCOME would be crud. People were just trying to figure what was being asked in full detail with all the perameters and info to give solid and sound advise. No one in this thread tried to sell him anything.
