how are the eclipse subs? never heard them before

For me and my customers, they have been a stellar performer. I stay out of the entry level subs from Eclipse due to the lack of warranty on a blown driver from the distributor and I hate to say it but they just cannot take the pounding that other entry level subs with a better warranty support can. The higher end subs have had zero issues at all.

do they have a good line of spl subs?

SPL I would instantly head to DD, Eclipse can indeed get loud but they are IMO, a far more suitable sub for someone who is after tonal response. DD's in a doghouse = you being heard one heck of a long ways away.
