You don't necessarily need a cap, what makes you think you do? What vehicle is this system going into?

cav2nv420 02-25-2007 09:37 PM

just do 0awg and the big 3 and your good:thumbsup:

bobby52 02-25-2007 09:40 PM

Its going into a caddy. I just thought a cap would offer some better sound quality.

cav2nv420 02-25-2007 09:45 PM

no a cap is just a waste of money just do what i said above and you will be fine

bobby52 02-25-2007 09:47 PM

lol what does that mean exactly??

zzzzzzz 02-25-2007 09:52 PM

the $ for a cap can go to something better .
but if you are sold on one 1000amp to one 1f cap

If you are running a properly set-up system in a Caddy, you will not need a cap unless you go crazy power-wise. The electrical system is already upgraded to handle all the toys in the car and should be fine with the equipment listed.

Having said that, and being a big Caddy fan......make sure you do a nice install....or else....:lol_hitti

Hope it goes well, some pics when it's done would be appreciated....:smokin:

bobby52 02-25-2007 09:57 PM

I wont be going cheap on the install its all gona be professionally done. I will post some pics to. Should be in a 2-4wks. wana wait till some more snow is gone

wow 1000amps only needs one farad.
wow
i think he is trying to say watts. 1000watts needs a 1 farad cap.

for the price of a cap spend a couple bucks more and just upgrade your charging system.
alt wires and battery.

its the easiest thing like ppl have been saying.

bobby52 02-25-2007 10:24 PM

How do you guys figure that out? Do you just add the rms up or somethig??

zinger002 02-25-2007 10:25 PM

lol dont even bother finding how to figure it out. dont buy a cap. thats all you need to know. they are good for their voltage displays and thats it lol.

bobby52 02-25-2007 10:27 PM

lol fair enough thanks guys

Prolifik 02-26-2007 11:22 AM

worldind 02-26-2007 01:55 PM

I heard every farad adds an average of 2 years to your life

In summary, adding a cap will make you live longer, louder and faster.

Sinemeup 02-28-2007 03:06 PM

1 hp = 746 watts

zinger002 02-28-2007 04:06 PM

haha, i thought so too :P

Audiofool 03-02-2007 12:56 PM

awww that would of been good to know, look in local area for a cap got a monster 1farad cap for 60$ brand new gold tips, was this worth it or a waste of money. I know i dint pay much for this but should i of had invested elsewhere

2003 alero
2 10inch infinity kappa perfect sub
alpine MRD-M1001 amp
4 gauge phoenix gold wiring kit
monster cap 1farad

BigRedGuy 03-02-2007 11:08 PM

Pretty much, yea......it's not going to hurt your system, but......:ohwell:

You could always :SELLIT: and put the money towards the wire upgrades you'll wind up doing later anyways......:smilie_da

Welcome to the learning curve that is car audio.....:smokin:
