What will hit harder? 2 Solo 12" L7's or 1 12" Solo X
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums and have a question for anyone who has experience with Kicker's solobaric subs.
My 12" Kicker Solobaric L5 recently had a melt down and I'm using it as an excuse to upgrade to either 2 Solo 12" L7's or 1 12" Solo X.
The amps I'll be running are 2 Pioneer Premier PRS-D3000SPL's which give out 1000 watts RMS each.
The box I'm building is about 5 cubic feet, ported and I'm holding off on cutting the front baffle until I figure out if I'm going the 2 L7's route or the 1 Solo x route. The setup will be put in my 2002 Honda Civic (2 dr).
My question is which setup will most-likely give me the best resulting SPL?
A) (2) 12 inch L7's
B) (1) 12 inch Solo X
Cheers and thanks for your help,

(I have a pair of L7's on a pair of 2200w amps and they take it with no problems!)

Well then it's settled. I'm picking up the 2 L7's and a second Pioneer 3000SPL in the next few days.
Another question. The box I'm building has one main 5 cubic foot chamber that will hold both L7's. Here is a quick sketchup of the layout. (don't mind the ghetto looking subs. Just for layout purposes. )
I'm trying to get the most DB's possible so do you guys think I'll get a better result from the single chamber setup shown below or would a dual chamber version with two ports push more air?
By the way.. box is all 3/4 inch MDF and the front baffle has two layers to support the solos. I'll be using resin to 45 degree all the inside corners and the dimensions are 32" WIDTH, 16" HEIGHT, 19" DEPTH.
Cheers,

If you're truely looking for STRICTLY spl (as in every tenth counts SPL), I'd say the port's a little too long on that box (if its drawn to scale). If you're looking for just a loud daily driver, it looks fine.
Having a dual-chamber design wouldn't exactly push more air, per se. It would be hard to tell which design would be louder without actually building and metering both.
I think the only differences of a dual-chamber box would be better bracing for the box due to a seperating wall in the middle, and the fact that both woofers would load the same, instead of one having the port wall beside/behind it and the other not. Whether or not either of these would be advantageous is really impossible to tell without a meter.

The length I ended up cutting that back port wall is about half of how it shows on the sketch and now have all sides cut except for the second layer of the front baffle. I'll try to get some pics when I get a chance.
Does anyone have an idea of what kind of "approximate" DB levels I can expect once I get this badboy wired? Just curious on what 2 L7 12's fed by 2000 watts (rms) in a ported 5 cube box may be able to pull off. I won't hold you to the estimated numbers guys, just curious on some guesses to drive me to finish the box.
Also, I was running one L5 12 off my one Premier 3000SPL with one Tsunami Competition battery and a Stinger 1 farad cap. Do you guys think I'll be able to run TWO Premier 3000SPL 1000 watt amps off the same power supply I have or will I need to get a second battery or upgraded alt?
