Wondering whats gonna sound good.
If i run off a Kicker DX700.1 amp, puts out 782rms @ 4ohm.

Will the solobaric 12L7 sound good.
Or would 2 12s, say type rs, mtx 8000s or equivlant sound better?

Better meaning more BASSSS

2 12s will be louder then 1 L7...L7s are good woofers and get loud but they aren't gonna beat 2 12s especially descent ones like type Rs

Why not just get 2 12 L7s?
People have been selling them here for really good prices.

I would do the 2 12" route. Choose the right subs and have the right box built and away you go.

 

I had a 12L7 in a 1.75 cube ported box in my car with a rockford 1000bd on it and i just swapped it out for 2 12" type R's in a 2 cube sealed box running off the same amp the type R's are a fair bit louder. Personally if you got gobs of room run 1 12L7 in a huge ported box but if your tight on space run two good 12's in a sealed. 2 Kicker Comp VR's would work good in your situation.

 

Kicker Comp VR's how are these compared to type r's? heard alot people dont like them....

The Kicker will be very impressive in a 2.5 cu.ft. spec box with a slot port. The Alpines however, will be louder in a ported 3-3.5 cu.ft. spec box with the same amp. Probably close to 2-4 DB louder.

I personally like the Kicker. Its got enough ***** to blow away most single 12's and the sound quality is pretty decent.
