I'm in the process of trading my DD subs for a single 15" or 18" sub to be used for daily driving.

These are my options

1-18" Cerwin Vega Stroker

1-15" Shocker Super Xtreme

1-15" Memphis Mojo

1-15" DD 9015 with a repaired surround

1-15" Elemental Designs 15AE + $50US and box (2 months old)

2-12" Kicker L7 12

2-15" Image Dynamics IDQ15V.1 D4

I think the 2 12L7 (resale value), 2 15" IDQ (loud SQ setup), and the 18" Stroker are the more prominent offers

What do you guys think is the best offer?

Thanx, Jon

I'd go IDQ's. That Stroker 18 would require one heck of a huge box.

How big of a box do you think the Stroker would need, compaired to a dual 15" box?

The only reason I haven't jumped at the L7's is because I already have quite a few 12" subs

Here is the specs.. http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/p...s/apstkr18.pdf

From the specs a 18" Stroker needs approx 5.5 to 6 cubic feet.

32" x 24 x 20 will give you just above 7.3 Cubic Feet. minus the displacement of 0.43 ft3 which is about 6.8 cubic feet.

A 3" Slot port 10.5 inches long will tune it to around 35hz..

And it is best to construct the box out of cardboard first to verify you can fit it in the car.

I'd also go with the IDQ's. That's actually less box size that i would have thought for the 18" My 18" PA woofers take 25CuFt.

Single ED15AE.
Small box and it's going to be more than loud enough for a daily driver and sound excellent doing it.

Well, the only time they're in a van is for transport.
