I hear ya on the space problem. I just built a ported box for four type R 12's and this thing is a monster. This box eat up almost 2 sheets of wood and over 230 screws lol. Two of us could barely lift this pig unloaded. Good news is that there is no way in hell that any two people are going to steal this thing with the 4 subs in it along with 2 MTX 1501D's and another MTX 1004 mounted in this box that's 54lbs in amps alone. LOL

Here a pic

As I mentioned in another post, I am very satisfied with the small sealed box I am using now. I have more than enough bass(even using my old Infinity ref1230's in a box they were not designed for). I expect the Alpines, being in the recommended sealed box, will sound even better and louder as they will be getting(and are able to handle) 1200watts rms. The current set up is only getting 600watts. Anyway, I will let you all know what I think as soon as I install them and tune it properly.

^^I got a quote from them, strictly for curiosity's sake, which was pretty reasonable even with shipping to canada. Honestly though, you should have no problem getting a decent shop to build you a good box for $150+... depending on what you want.

Why not make your own box? Most places like Home Depot can even cut the wood for you. A sealed box will need no more then 1/2 of a sheet of mdf $15-$20 wood, $5 in screws, $3-5 in sealant. The only thing that you need to do is screw the wood together and cut out an 11 inch hole for each woofer if you are using 12's.

check these guys out, ask for Jonathan. They do a pretty good job and are reasonable with their pricing.

If you want sealed box your sub needs a box that's 13"x13"x 12.5" that's as small as they can get for a 12". Goto home depot and they will cut it for you. 3/4" medium density fibreboard will do the trick. Half a sheet is worth about $15.
