But that would acually make me want the XXXs more.... They will have way less power compression then the L7s and a similar amount of cone area....

assuming both subs were in optimal enclosures, I think the XXXs would be better...

i would go kicker

1. MUCH MUCH better warranty in Canada than RE
2. More efficient than XXX
3. lighter sub, wont be a pain to get it in and out
4. probably cheaper
5. better resale value
6. easier to wire, (dont xxx's only come in quad coils?)

So If I could feed the XXX 1200 watts each, would they be louder than the L7?

 

With 1200w each I still think the L7's would be your best choice, but now box design starts to come in to play a bit more.

Sorry I might be a bit biased but most of this is untrue and I would like to clear things up.

1. The warrenty of Kicker (Gem-sen) is 1 year, the warrenty of RE (CMC Marketing) is 1 year. Gem-sen is pretty picky with blown woofers. CMC unless it is completly toasted coils the sub is warrentied. Recones are redaly available all the time, and since I am at every comp in Ontario I can recone your subs IF they do blow at the show!

2.Kicker 10L7 85.7dB, RE XXX 12" 85.9dB you can check this out at www.kicker.com and www.reaudio.com

3. yes the 10L7 will be lighter.

4.I think they are pretty much even with each other if you are talking MSRP and with the same discount they will still be within reason of each other.

5.There are not enough RE products around to have a say on that.

6.Last model had only Quad coils now you can get Dual's or Quad's it's you pick.
