okay so I have the standard ipod headphones for my ipod and they always crackle when turned up loud. I didn't think that would happen in my car. but with certain songs i'll hear a very distinct tap kind of noise. what does that mean? did I ruin my speakers or are those songs just weird? if you wanna give it a try for yourself the song I noticed it on was message in a bottle by the police.

 

it could just be a shitty recording i hear that on my ipod sometimes unless its a song i put on from a cd of mine

 

that's what I think as well, I think i'll try and find a remastered version of that album and see how it goes. how do you know if you blew your speakers though?

 

does it make those noises on cd's? or is it just select songs on your ipod? i would imagine your speakers are fine unless they are making noises no matter what your listening to

 

I don't listen to cds since I have a ipod connector going to my deck. it doesn't happen with all songs just certain ones, and that's in my car. with my ipod headphones it would happen with anything if I turn it up a bit. those headphones are just though

 

oh well my guess would be that it would just be those specific songs arnt that great of quality try some other headphones or something and see if you hear those noises on them

 

will do. i'm also going to get the songs I want on a diff. album. how would you know if your speakers are blown though? isn't it a click like that?

 

one of my speakers blew up on me but it completely stopped working i think they would probly sound...scratchy or staticy? is how you could describe it i guess but they would do it all the time not just to certain songs

 

Do you get the popping sound at the same point of the same songs consistently?

As has already been suggested, it sounds like you may have a couple poor recordings in there.

If your speakers were damaged you should be getting that scratchy/popping noise all the time, regardless of what you're listening to, particularly at higher volume.

 

I think i'm just paranoid. I got a different version of the same songs and it sounds great. is it easy/possible to blow high end speakers?
