First, thanks for putting this forum together. It's nice to have a Canadian perspective.

Is there as good online Canadian dealer? I have been looking at Elemental Designs stuff, looks good. If we order from them are there brokerage and customs fees? Do members of this forum get any discount?

Look to the left of this page. Then go read on their site about brokerage and customs.

Elemental Designs uses a service similar to "Border Free", but they go with UPS as the carrier.

It's not free at all, but all of the shipping fees and taxes are calculated and collected up front. So the price you see after checkout is the total (with no addons).

http://www.ecost.com and http://www.etronics.com do use "Border Free".

I believe that eD has discontinued prepaid taxes/duties to Canada.

That said, I've always found them really easy to deal with. Give them a call and let them know where you're located. I'm sure that they'll be able work work out a great deal for you.

Damn.. Well good to know anyhow.
UPS charges an arm and a leg for cross border shipping, then the bend you over and charge you brokerage fees.
So much for NAFTA.
I wonder why eD hasn't tried to hook up with Border Free?

Nafta only applies if the product is made in the USA, as most of this stuff is made in whoever the cheapest bidder is in some other country, the Nafta agreement does not apply.

Getting items through brokerage is a fee, regardless of NAFTA. Stuff going into US and Mexico goes through similar stuff from any other NAFTA member.

The fact that UPS gouges people is another story altogether.

91stang, pretty sure that is in violation of the forum guidelines dude. I have to play by the rules, so should you and others.

91stang was just providing a link to a Canadian online dealer.

Just as Angus_NB was asking for.

Is there as good online Canadian dealer?
