Where to get a high current alternator built?
My boss is putting a ridiculously large sound system in his 90 lebaron. In any case the largest replacement alternators for this car is a 120 amp. He is looking for at least 160.
I know there are places that can rebuild existing alternators to run more current. I am just wondering if anyone knows of any good places around Lethbridge, Calgary, or Edmonton that can rebuild one for higher current and do a good job.
If there is a really good place further away (even across canada) that will accept shipping back and fourth and can do it competitively priced let me know as well.
Thank you for your time.

I bet lol. I will call em on monday and see if they can help my boss out.
Another question I have is....with these super high current alternators.
Do they have any problems charging at lower rpm? I mean would they be less effective at idle than a alternator rated for a lower current?
I have heard rumors of high powered alternators not even charging until above 1300rpm or so.
Thanks.

2 Votes for ROB VO! (loudbrownkickercolt).
He made me one a while back, awesome alty, everyone said it was impossible for my car, he made it. I can't remember if it was a 200 A or not, but it was 200 or higher. It put out 192A at idle LOL, Rob is a sick mother .
I'm only guessing that he is still building them, but that is who I would personally go with (due to my experience + price with him) so might be worth you looking in to.
I have no idea what pricing would be vs other USA companies (with our strong dollar now) but a few years back when I bought from ROb it was A LOT cheaper than other companies.
I think he uses some new technology now too (since I bought mine a few years ago) that makes them basically indestructible (they used to be bulletproof )
Good luck,
Craig G
