whooooooo new question!
How do you go about running multiple amps ? say i had 3 subs, would it be preferd 3 amps, one amp bridged with a second amp or ?
There can be any number of subs ran to one amp.... you do not need to have one sub per amp.
oh :S well then wtf i thought it was one amp to one channel ? unless im mistaken.. and since iv been here these last few days i have been often.. what about the multiple amp question ? just for shits and giggles, isn't it just a large gauge wire ran back from the battery to a dist.block then to teh amps?
u can do 1 run of wire per amp, or 1 run of wire back to distro split off to each amp, or you could just buy a bigger amp and run less amps...
keep it as simple as possible, the more things you add the more potential problems you can run into. |
thats what i thought, what about this as many subs to one amp :s ? can anyone answer that for me?
depends on the load and the amp
sometimes 3 amps works better sometimes 1 amp will work better all depends on the equipment |
Again, as I posted earlier.... it is all about matching the sub(s) to the amp. I have run thirty two 12" subs off of a 150 watt mono amp before. It is knowing what you can and cannot do that will make or break the system.
i have been looking into new subs. and i dont mean to bother everyone with all my questions so iv been breaking them up into different threads about different things.
ok, thanks for your help :) holey ! well then that helps alot kinda.. other than the knowing part lol |
Im looking at an amp, on the front of it it says 400 watts rms but in the description it says
2 OHM Output Power - Full Range 1200W Bridged Power At 2 OHMS - Full Range 1200W Total Max Power 1200 Watts so does that mean its 400 watts or 1200 ??? |
Always post the make and model of what it is you are looking at, otherwise all we can do is guess.
oh damn man sorry i thought i did :S MTX 1-Channel Car Amplifier (TC4001) i think i may have posted it before. maybe nto.
400rms then
Someone is on the FutureShop website.
You can run as many amps as you like, but as Mat said keep it as simple as possible. Makes it easier to install and setup, and faster to diagnose should you have a problem. |
is that bad :s? lol. and ok thanks, they don't have to be the same amp tho but they SHOULD be right ? or is that just something i herd
No its not bad, just whoever put the specs on the futureshop site didnt do a very good job.
I'd personally use the same amps. Chances are you'd end up spending more money buying 3 400watt amps vs a single 1200watt amp in wire, install, accessories, and time. I'm going to be running a pair of amps for my pair of subs. But the amps are going to be strapped to a single load. |
if your going to be using say 3 subs and 3 amps, make sure all subs are the same and all amps are the same.
or else its just ghetto. will it work?...yup will it look good?...nope will it work as well as it should?...nope as for just amps in general, your mids and his amp does not need to be the same as your sub amp. |
You are far better off going with one single large amp over multilpe smaller amps. Space used, extra wiring to connect the amp. Trying to accurately match each amps output to the other (they will all be different regardless of the claim of power on the amp or the manual), the use of power from the vehicle itself.
Know what it is that you want to do for a system. List your goals. What vehicle will this all be going into. What is your budget. |
goals? just to have a nicer, louder, system. id like to have about 1000 watts.. if possible on that budget? if not than whatever possible. Ford explorer :smokin: as for budget.. no more than 600$
Unless you are prepared to buy used or entry level (as in cheap a$$) equipment, throw the 1000w rms with subs for $600.00 idea out the window. 1000w is not a magic number that makes things loud. For that matter all things being equal it is only 3db louder (a difference that you can perceive as noticeably louder) than a 500w rms system. Given your budget, you are far better off getting a good set of sub or single sub and an appropriate amplifier for either choice. Next off have the proper custom box made for the sub or subs and sit back and enjoy good sound. Want louder again.... it's up to 2000 watts, then 4000 watts.... starting to see how the scale works? Given your budget what is important is how it is matched together. I can price things out for you to stretch it out as much as possible for you. Update your location so we know where in Canada you are, it is nice to know what taxes need to be calculated and to get an idea of shipping costs. It also tells people who you may be near to you so that if you need a custom box made or help with a install, where we can recommend you go to.
ok well i would be willing to buy used if need be but id rather just buy new and save the hassle. 1000wrms not do-able is fine as for a box i would just need it designed i can build myself i just don't know anything about "tuning" it. If possible i would rather have 2 subs than one BUT if one better quality sub is the same price as two than i would rather the better. as i have stated i already have a RF punch and a pioneer, if that means anything, and the wiring that i assume is for 600watts

XM-GTR6001 | GTR Series Class D Mono Amplifier | Sony | Sony Style USA
? 600W RMS x 1 (20Hz-200Hz, 1%THD+N, at 4 Ohm, 14.4V)1 This unit has a maximum power output of 950W at 4 Ohms. 900W RMS x 1 (50Hz, 1% THD+N, at 2 Ohm, 14.4V) This unit has a maximum power output of 1300W at 2 Ohms. i have herd mixed opinions on xplod stuff so i was jw on what you guys think of them. and 900 rms x1 does that mean it puts out 900w wired to 2 ohm ? |
Friends don't let friend buy Sony.
i guess that answers my question lol. I just read, my amp is only 300 watts rms so .. 1000watts right now seems like alot lol. id be happy with even 5-600 now :p
What you need is a properly set up system with a proper sub box. 500watts rms with a pair of subs in the right box is more than enough to get loud and sound good while doing so.
what do you think about
2 10" Pioneer Champions ( says power handling max is 1200 watts so i assume rms is between 4-600 ? could be mistaken? ) that comes to 339$.. but i dont know how to/ what to match for the amp? |
The Pioneer Premiere are 400w rms each. Where are they priced at $339.00? My price on the TSW1207D4 or TSW1207D2 are $115.00 each right now due to being a last years model clearout. Buy the last years model, save some $ to put towards the amp.
Is that the same sub, or a different model ? and they arn't priced 399$ each sorry lol, i ment thats the cost for the both of them with tax each is 149.99. Where would i get last years model ? i only really have futureshop.. and thats all i can find on there. Can you suggest an amp for either sub so i have a rough idea what to look for?
Dude, I will find you a amp and ship all the items to you.
oh alright nice ! How would you accept payment? and i wont know about a for sure budget till after christmas if thats alright? would that include wiring kit and all or just sub/s and amp?
add me to msn if you can, way easier to talk there in real time.
