I agree...Of all the cars I have seen and judged for SQ, I have never seen any SQ system with 15's. If you drop down to a properly tuned dual 12 sealed enclosure, you will more than likely be able to attain the desired results you're looking for...

Why are people still saying that with smaller drivers you get better control? It's all in the box design and total system integration. Assuming your subs don't suck ass in general. :)
I have 2 old Image Dynamics ID15s sealed in a small box each and they aren't far behind in comparison to IDQ i had, or the brahma or xxx.

There's nothing wrong with the gear. Kicker is a perfectly capable brand and 15s are certainly capable of world class SQ. Some of THE most successful cars run 15s.

I agree that your enclosure is way too big for SQ. At that volume I would expect flabby bloated bass that does not mesh with anything - kind of what you are describing.

try haveing it out of phase

do you have the 2 subs in the same phase?

I checked out the response curves in winisd (to be fair to the brand since Iam talking smack)

5 cubes each looks fine to me.... Q is a bit on the low side for 'SQ' (about .71)... so I agree, try a smaller box....

Flipping the polarity on both subs (0 degree > 180 degree) sometimes would help this situation. and you might actually have more midbass punch..

ideal q is .5 but most people don't prefer a flat responce
some people prefer a q closer to 1 or over which make the sound boomy and typically more midbass output

That makes lots of sense, I personally like the sound of 15's over 12's and stuff because of the "deeper" sound. But right now they sound sooo sloppy.

You described it perfectly. It sounds like the speakers are doing one song and the subwoofer is playing a different song.

I was actually thinking of throwing my whole system away, lol. I hate it when my techno sounds like poop! I read about this dudes system a while ago. He ran a 5 channel Memphis amp with four polk audio speakers and one 10" image dynamics subwoofer. I think that would sound VERY good and I really don't care about loudness anymore. I just want something to jam out too. But if you guys think I can make it work I am deffinetly going for it.

The kickers will get slooppy if you overdrive them. If you put too much power into them and they stretch the surrounds. This also comes from having a box too big. They're still on sale for 98.00 us, so they're disposable. :)
I have the same kickers, I run them free air with an amp on each at 380 wrms and never max that out, so the kickers have never seen more than 350 wrms. I went with 15's for deeper smoother bass. I've been running them off the factory deck so far, but my interface just came in, so now i can install the alpine. Also, you said your crossover is at 120? Try about 80-85.
