This is why you use fuses.

I guess even the big dogs have to be reminded from time to time.

That's a very misinformed post......

Fuses wouldn't have helped in this case. He had a couple of banks of batteries and something fell on them causing the short/fire.

No amount of fusing would have fixed this. If metal objects fall on your batteries there will be problems.

Now... I'd agree that he should have had something covering them, but fuses wouldn't have helped..

thats like saying that you fuse your system and then something falls on the batt and shorts out the batt....try saying that fusing would help that one......they do protect thier system but when you build for what they did....you are pushing the limits of boundaries that no one else has reached. it is unfortunate...but in no way would fusing have helped them.....its a shame....but im sure that they will recover from it.

our way to protect a short like that is to build with all positives on the driver side and all negatives on the right side

180.3 wow

sh*t happens!!Thing will happen no matter what precautions are taken sometimes. That's just one of those freak accidents. It's like the broken condom and here's Johnny! or a faulty o-ring and bye, bye space shuttle. Everyday is a gamble, you just never know what can happen in the blink of an eye.
