some people will steal anything!! thats all im going to say haha....

lol well taking ur face plate off will help a little bit because people will see it and think "its not worth my time" but there are still some people that will steal anything. and yes they could find a replacment for it if they were to steal your HU without the face plate.

my .02 , but were i live i dont have to take it off..hell i dont even lock my doors and half the time i leave my keys in my car.....its just a small town thing

people who have a deck generally have an amp and sub, or more.

theives know this, and if theyre going to break in, they will break in whether you take out the face plate or not.
i would still highly recommend taking it with you, but try to find some way to hide your deck.

That's exactly what I was going to post while reading down the page... true though.

My policy is: The best theft protection is discretion. If you drive up to the club with your system pounding, you've just communicated to everyone that there is stuff worth stealing in your car. I'll always turn it down before comming into a parking lot and then wait until the END of the night to open my trunk and show it off.

With the face plate issue, use as much discretion as possible. Take it off early so that thieves don't watch you fumbling with it in the parking lot. In my Golf I can take down the cup holder and it completely covers the deck. Needless to say, I always leave the cup holder down when I leave the car parked in a suspicious area.

I took my old cassete deck faceplate off from the stock radio and now it fits perfectly on they new alpine deck (it just sits on the edges)

I usually cover up my alarm light depending on the area.
