will it be louder than my stock system?

Just a simple question is all im asking. Will a 12" kicker comp in a ported kicker comp box with a kenwood 1000w max (300rms) on 4 guage wiring and a kenwood deck be louder than my all original stock audio system on my 2004 pontiac Grand am? will I notice more bass? will I hear it if its in the truck? will I hear it if im outside the car? thank you for your responce in advance!

im just extremly worried that I just wasted $865.50 on somthing thats no better than stock!

it will be better then stock, How much better is a question though. Will you notice inside your car? I sure hope so!! outside, probably not much more then just rattles at best. And overall you most likely did not waste $800+

you will notice a difference, you will get better low end bass and more bass period. I hope you didn't pay $865.00 for just one kicker comp sub and a kenwood amp cause you could have gotten them cheaper. But it will make your overall system sound better or atleast the bass will sound better

if you're installing yourself and have the monsoon system make sure you get the right harness and be prepared to get bent over for it as well. We just tried an install with a friends sisters 04 grand am (maybe grand prix) but we tried three different harnesses and with the "right one", we still had problems with the volume of the speakers not being loud enough. Then the stock amp would clip, and we would have to try it again.

We ended up just keeping the stock deck in there and running the high level inputs on the amp. Ended up wasting a good 6 or 7 hours trying to get the right harness installed.

**Edit

One harness was $130, one was $150, and the right one was $180

ive heard my buddies grand am, dont know what year it is but i think with what you have you will hear a good different. i only had 400 watts maybe even less bridged out of my mtx amp once and back then it was loud to me. you got plenty of trunk space to work with, just right the right box (jalat? who is on this forum) made to get its potential runnin, sub spec wise.

wasted911 - thanks for that tip, my friend actually wanted to do a simple SQ install and that will be good to know.

lets us know how it goes bandit47

I would honestly recommend not using an aftermarket deck at all and getting a stock "adapter". I can't rembmer what their called. I think JLs is the Cleansweep.

going aftermarket is never a waste if you love your tunes.....you just have to do it the right way.......and personally i discourage ever keeping a factory installed system......they just plain dont sound good .....LOL
..my 2 cents ...for what its worth...

the comp is the lowest end of kicker. no more than 150$ amp for around 300watts rms im just guessing here but 300-350$. with wire you would of looked at 600$ approx with box. still to much still lol for 900$ i can have a sundown 1500, a SSA Xcon and a custom box made by myself. 100$ for 0gauge wire at princess auto and 20$ for RCA.soooo 1020$ tax included i would of had some really kick *** setup.. and thats just a few bux extra than what you spent. and SQ and SPL would of been 10 000 times better
