Will my JBL BP1200.1 handle my 2 Orion H2 12.4's?

I am just trying to figure out if my 1200 watt JBL will handle my 2 Orion H2's? I know it's a powerful amp, I was reading some forums and they said if your amp does not push enough, it could just be as bad as pushing too many watts to the map (kinda weird). Just wanting some input.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Yes the amp will handle the woofers....according to the manual for the amp you won't get any more power than the 2ohm mono output but 1,200W will drive them just fine. Given that you will be wiring them down to a 1ohm mono load I would be careful with your gain control and make sure it is set correctly.

I would suggest you do the "Big 3" wiring upgrade under your hood during the install process and use a minimum of 2ga power wire from the battery back to the amp....you will need to use some kind of adapter to drop the wire down to 4ga in order to fit it into the amp terminals but it draws enough current at high volume to warrant the larger main wire.

The woofers will, according to the manual for them, handle more power than the amp produces but in the correct enclosure they will still get very loud running off that amp.

Should I run a 1-ohm or a 4-ohm load to the subs? The subs are 12.4 dual 4 ohm voice coils. I think I can only run a 1 or 4 ohm. I wanted a 2 but it's not possible.

Run it at 1ohm....running at 4 will cut down on the power substantially, just be careful with your gain control....

If you plan on running them sealed you should give some serious thought to only using 1 and putting it in a quality ported enclosure. The driver will handle the power, the amp will love the load, it should actually dig a little lower and you will save some space to boot. You can probably pay most of the $$ for the enclosure by selling the second driver, which is a nice little bonus.

Well, I ran it 1-ohm. But before I could hook the subs up, I got a red light underneith the JBL logo. But I had a green light. I hooked the subs up, and nothing happened. I can't figure out what the problem is, it has a good ground, and good power wire, and remote. I need some help.

where did you get the amp from? was it working before you put it in your car? Sounds like something is definately wrong with the amp.

could be a bad sub(s). check their impedances and make sure there isnt a short between the voice coils.

Subs are disconnected from the amp.

How are you running it at 1ohm, if you haven't even hooked the subs up yet?
