As for WinISD... it would be hard to be able to help a whole lot on a message board. You just can't explain it well enough in type IMO. Peer tutoring would be best, or maybe something like an MSN conversation where both people were using the program at the same time.

I find WinISD pretty handy but it does have a lot of stuff in there that one does not necessarily need and will definitely confuse someone who is new to enclosure design.

I guess the most diffucult part of getting started with ported boxes is choosing the allignment.... I recommend looking for drivers that will work well in a chebyshev allignment (not all will)

This allignment will tend to give greater extension and efficiency and is still considered to be critically damped.... and with the right woofer may only give one or two db of variation in frequency response (transfer function)...

of course you will notice that drivers tend to only work in one allignment anyway; and winisd may give similar box recommendations no matter what allignment you choose....


It is also very possible the T/S paramaters of your sub are very different from the manufacturer's spec sheet... you can actually figure about 20% variation !!
