If i have a sub thats dvc and can hanfle lets say 100 watss rms can i take 2 500 watt amps to each of the voice coils? and if its dual 4 ohm coils that means i would need 200 500 watss rms amps at 4 ohms?
Kyle, post the model# of the sub and a link to it if you can. Power ratings from many manufacturers are drastically inflated, one must be careful as to what they think the power rating really is and then how to properly wire it.
You can wire a sub many ways, that way included. While it may answer your question however, it can also lead to many a problem. Based on your other thread, much more needs to be discussed with you about your system and it's requirements.
right now i have two forward facing 15 l7's dual 4 ohm in a sealed box i made myself not sure on the dims. running off a hifonics amp 1600 watts rms. so it says on the internet. 0g wiring throughout. all in a chrysler neon
There are soooo many variables.
A sub in the wrong size enclosure will have its rated power handling greatly reduced. If the sub is in a proper sized sealed enclosure and give a lot of clean RMS power it may be fine over powering it by an undetermined percentage.
Please post the model number and we can give you some suggestions.

there is no specific sub im just looking to make a nice clean setup in the trunk and i wanna run two amps to one sub and was just wondering if i could run one ampp to one voice coil and one amp to the tother voice coi.,
While it can be done, it is usually done in extreme cases. It is far harder for someone to set up properly and requires a good amount of time to do so. It is usually a far more expensive set up at the same time as well as takes up more space. Are you ready to tackle the issues presented or is the single large amp perhaps the better way to go?
