Thumbs down

Urr.. I've installed quite a few amp/sub combo's for my buddies this summer... no problems untill yesterday.....

I built a guy a box for 2 15's I sold him.... From how he described his trunk I thought a simple retangular box would work... I said I'd do it as a favour if he supplied the beer...

Long story short, everything was a hassle... he didn't have the wood/tools he said he had... no garadge (I worked in the rain for part of the day)... the box was fairly complicated to make so it would fit... and his beer was warm....

After much more work then I expected, I asked for his MTX 12" 8000 as a bonus... he said sure...

I had the whole damn thing done and installed when he asked me to put one more screw into the amp rack I made... hesitating on where he wanted it, I put it in anyway...

Sure enough, it missed the gas tank by a long shot (I checked to see where it was)... unfortunatly, I hit a friggn fuel line....

I told him to keep his sub, and gave him the 2 he bought for $100 instead of $150... (already a good deal)...

Suddenly the bret's mistake dosen't seem so hard to make... and I am feeling pretty disapointed in myself...

I guess whats funny is that another buddy was here to watch the whole thing happen, but still wants me to put his stereo in for him next week...

Dropping the gas tank at 1am was fun too!
Hey, last I heard that duct tape and zip tie patch was still holding. Funny how it's always the last screw, eh?

i think we can all learn from this, don't screw when you are tired

That has to suck, but, as long as you didn't blow anything up

I blew up a damn forklift a while back

Please, don't ask how

I was taking it apart with force, meaning a sawsall and oxy-ace torch, cut a fuel line with the sawsall, then switched to the oxy ace torch, and boom. I was extreamly luckey, as the peice of sheet metal, well the whole back panel of the forklift was blown onto me, protecting me from the explosion Part of the reason why I said a while back ago that my shop was being redone

I also do have to thank my safety gear. I ALWAYS apply personal safety first, then shop safety, then project safety. I was dressed with: Hardhat with lexan shield, ear plugs, coveralls (fire retardent), kneepads, and gloves (also Fire Retardent) at the time. Many times, this gear has saved my life. Remember, be safe no matter what you are doing, some tools although they appear safe, can be extremly dangerous. Like, you could "drop" your screwdriver, adn have it fly 50 feet and poke your buddies eye out

You guys are funny.

But it's nice to hear I'm not the only one to mess up stuff.

Mazda B2600 4X4......... was hammering out some interior metal........ hammer head went through this hole just perfectly sized for the hammer head and left a mint "egg" on the outside of the truck ............ and some nicely spidered paint. That hammer took up residence four houses down in the landscaping of someones front lawn. I think that was 10 years ago or so. Wonder if the hammer is still there??
