Well.. I got a good deal on a 9515. So I snatched it up... next up is a Power Acoustik 2300RMS watter from A team.
but the 9515 is one hell of a sub... it really is. I already knew it was nuts before I even ran the specs into the computer. It can handle the full 1200 RMS without even being in a box.
Well I needed a box built for it so I bought teh sub over to this home audio guru and we tested the T/S parimeters on multiple box modeling programs. After about 30min of dorking around on BoxMod we figured out that it really can take 6000 RMS without a stitch of trouble.. out of its 75mm excursion.. it takes minimum 5000 RMS to get it past 60mm.
The step response and group delay is un-canny. It is incredibly musically accurate.. just an AMAZING sub... very very very SQ oriented.
Which is nuts because its an SPL MONSTER!!!
with only 1800 RMS.. it can (on paper) do 143db in a car.. at 65hz.
The sub is just truely wicked in every sense of the word.. its constructed incredibly well... its so well thought out.
I'm now a total fan of DD.. they really are an incredible company.
Just so you know.. the best box we came up with was
- a *NET* internal volume of 3.0 cubic feet.. with a 4" X 4" port.
That'll give you a box tuning of 38hz with an F3 of 35hz.
it'll have a slight peak at 65hz that way.. with pheominally accurate group delay from 22-50hz.
I forget (exactly) what numbers it was running for step response with that box.. but it was low 40 millisecs thereabouts.
Just a phenominal sub.. really really incredible..
it just BLOWS AWAY everything I've ever modeled or experienced to date.

HaHaHa
I told you Graham that you wouldn't be disapointed with it. Just so you know with your setup you will be doing 143dB to music easy, and it will sound amazing.

From the DD Site
The 9500 "f" Series might be the ultimate woofer, hand assembled to the tightest tolerances in order to reproduce music as exact as possible, at whatever volume level you desire.

DD was just trying to make the best driver possible and the 95 is what they came up with. (for that price point) It has been designed to sound well and perform well.
Their SPL sub is the new 99z series that is just starting to leak out.
Hrm.. a pair of 99z's, a pair of Z1 amps, and a Panda. Deadly for street
(keep your eyes on the Euro finals!)
