usually you'd block out your plate number because there are people with access to information like that. sure, anyone you drive past on the street can see your plate number, but they don't necessarily know what is in your trunk. when you're taking pictures of the gear that's in your car, you don't want that tied to your plate number and ultimately, the address where your car is most likely parked for 8-10 hours at a time.

the actual frequency of that happening is probably quite low imo.

Not to mention the fact that the gear is no longer in the car..... because it was burnt to a crisp...
